Bots for forums?

Does anyone know if there is such a thing? I'm talking about the bots typically found is the good old IRC channels. The kind that monitor for specific words and run scripts depending on the words. You could ask for instructions or just ask "how do I?" And the bot would automatically respond in private so as to not fill the screen full of the same old question over and over again. Or you could have it automatically delete a message and ban anyone who types the words "download link" for example. Or even better you could have it open and close an ftp server to a users ip based on the "magic words" like "open sesame". That kind of bot but for forums? A different bot for each group or discussion of even down to individual posts so as to allow more flexibility and less false positives.
