Home NAS? What do you use? Suggestions? Empty Home NAS? What do you use? Suggestions?

I'm thinking about adding a small NAS to my home network. This would simply be for auto backups, etc. I know that I can simply add a USB drive to my router, create a share, etc. but I'm wondering what others might be using? With the standard external drive, there really isn't any added security for the drive besides the routers firewall, so I'd prefer something that also have built in security on the device as well.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

I've wanted to build my own NAS later on when I can. I've looked into FreeNAS awhile back. It's open sourced and may have what you want.

Thanks. I will for sure have to look into it. I do know that there are those "Cloud" drives that you can buy, just not sure how secure they are.

Home NAS? What do you use? Suggestions? Empty Ive always preferred an old PC with new drives and a GB ethernet card. Much easier to manage in Windows, or a Linux GUI flavor if you ask me.
